Mom welcomes daughter on Christmas morning – and comes home in time for dinner

A young mother has revealed she gave birth to a baby girl on Christmas Day and was back home eating her festive dinner just hours later.

Angel Musgrove’s daughter Elsie was due on Christmas Eve but was born in the early hours of December 25.

Elsie was born at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St. Edmunds, England, at 3:07 a.m. and weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces.

Musgrove, 20, was released from the home that evening after giving birth to her first child.

She managed to get to her mother’s house in Bury St. Edmunds, 19 hours later, where a Christmas dinner was waiting for her and her partner, Zach Shawcross, 23.

The new mum – whose birthday falls less than ten days before her daughter’s on December 16 – admitted it was the best Christmas dinner she’s ever had – and the first proper meal she or her partner her had eaten in three days.

The dinner more than made up for her efforts on Christmas Eve – all of which she spent in labor.

“I was induced around noon on Monday and went into labor more than 24 hours later,” Musgrove explained.

“I was in labor all Christmas night and Elsie was born in the early hours of Christmas morning.

“It’s been pretty amazing, to be honest.

“It’s a really strange feeling to go through the chaos of work and then suddenly you bring it home and it’s quiet and peaceful.

“Her due date was Christmas Eve… I was kind of hoping she’d come a little before her due date so I could be home for Christmas, but it wasn’t to be.

“Elsie is my first child and she is absolutely the best Christmas present I could have wished for.”

Musgrove said her daughter’s name is linked to her partner’s grandmother’s initials – LC

Despite returning to enjoy their dinners, they did not sit down to eat until 10:00 p.m.

Musgrove continued: “We didn’t leave the hospital until about a quarter to ten.

“Mum saved us a dinner – it was ready and hot when we got to her.

“We were eating between ten and half past ten.

“We were desperate for our Christmas dinner by that point.

“During the three days before Elsie was born, I don’t think her father or I slept more than four hours a night.

“It was the first proper meal we’d had since I was induced.

“It was 100 percent my best Christmas dinner ever.”

Both baby and mother are now at home in Woodbridge, England and are doing well.

Musgrove added that she would make up for her daughter’s birthday in the festive period by getting her gifts during the summer as well.
