Passenger angry at being forced to give up Delta first-class seat – for a dog: ‘There’s nothing they can do’

Talk about a rough flight.

A Delta passenger is barking mad after being forced to give up his plush first-class seat for a fellow passenger — and downright furious when he discovered the lucky VIP was a dog.

“I got up on the first one this morning, only 15 minutes later it was downgraded (to a worse seat than I had before). I asked the desk agent what was going on and she said ‘something changed,'” he complained customer crossed on the Delta Air Lines Reddit earlier today.

“Okay, finally, I’m unhappy, but whatever, then I get on board only to see this dog in my first class seat … And now I’m freaking out,” Redditor @ben_bob explained in a post that it showed the unwanted animal occupying the space it was. it is supposed to be his.

After contacting Delta Support, the frustrated flyer, who had received an extra seat with legroom, was upset to be told that any human passengers may have to be moved to accommodate service animals — and that there is “nothing that they can do”. in these situations.

“There’s no way that dog could have spent as much on this airline as I did,” insisted the exasperated elite, calling the mix-up an “absolute joke.”

“What’s the point of being more loyal to this airline,” they continued. “I’ve sat when others have complained about this airline’s recent mistreatment of customers and slipping service levels, but I’m also beginning to question my own loyalty.”

Many Delta travelers quickly sided with the jetsetter.

“Notice how nowhere else in life do you see this amount of service animals? Go to the airport and suddenly they appear,” one thought.

“Exclusively in the USA. It doesn’t happen anywhere else. It’s American lead character syndrome,” said another.

“The dog is probably a 2 million miler Diamond Medallion,” someone joked, referring to a high-level Delta status.

“Good guy 2 million miles,” someone else offered.

“You forgot a faux 2 million miler ‘service dog,'” interjected a frustrated vacationer.

“I saw so many service dog vests flying yesterday. Like any other person he had a service dog. It’s so out of control,” they complained.

But while the situation may have been awkward, a Delta employee jumped into the conversation to remind everyone that by law, passengers with special needs and service animals are given priority in border rows.

“When I was in reservations, whenever people wanted blocked seats, I had to advise them that Delta has a legal obligation to move them if a disabled passenger requests it,” they said.

But travel expert Gary Leff sided with the human traveler in the dog debate.

“I honestly don’t see the logic of Delta bumping a passenger from first class to accommodate a dog in the upper section,” Leff wrote in View From The Wing.

“To be sure, airlines are generally required to provide reasonable accommodations under the Air Carrier Access Act, and one way to do that might be with prime seats. However, a last-minute seat change it certainly wouldn’t be required,” he explained.

Observing that “Delta seems to have gone to the dogs,” Leff pointed to other instances where a first-class passenger was boarded to make room for an emotional support dog and four carry-on bags — as well as sitting dogs and eating from tables in the so-called exclusive Delta One lounges.

“It’s a dog-eat-dog world,” opined one Redditor.

“And some of us are wearing Milk Bone underwear,” offered another, recalling a famous line from the TV show Happy.
